Fall Creek Clean Up/ Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

FRIENDS OF ONE MILE CREEK ~ FALL CREEK CLEAN UP 2011

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

This will be FOMC’s 3rd year participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup as part of our Fall Creek Cleanup. This is a nationwide program to protect the health and beauty of Canada’s waterways. Volunteering at this cleanup means you will not only be taking part in one of Canada’s largest conservation initiatives, but you will also be making the shoreline habitat cleaner and safer for wildlife.

We invite you to join us help clean up the shoreline as well as part of One Mile Creek!

To register for the cleanup please visit the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup website here. Registration is not mandatory, but encouraged.

DATE: Saturday, September 17, 2011; Rain or Shine

TIME: 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

PLACE: Meet at Ryerson Park on Niagara Blvd, Niagara-on-the-Lake

We will begin the clean up at Ryerson Park & beach and work our way upstream to clean up the rest of the creek.

Rubber boots and gloves are strongly recommended. Please bring your own reusable water bottle.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Many of you have already received or will receive a copy of the One Mile Creek Stewardship Guide (via hand-delivery or mail) which was completed in September 2009.

The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority will be having an open house meeting for all FOMC members, landowners along the creek, and members of the community who are interested to learn more about the guide and how to get the most out of it. Hope to see you all on March 10th!
